22 January 2020 – Lions Gate Underwriting, (“Lions Gate”), an independent underwriting agency and Lloyd’s coverholder, today announced the appointment of Jairo Medina as head of surety and executive vice president for Latin America, effective immediately. He will be based in Miami and work on expanding Lions Gate’s existing portfolio of products into the surety space.
Medina brings over 35 years’ surety bond experience to Lions Gate. Most recently, since 2006, he has served as president of Surety Bonds Underwriters Group. Prior to that, he was vice president at Folksamerica Reinsurance Company in Miami for seven years, focussing on surety solutions and joining from Confianza Insurance Company in Colombia, where he worked for 14 years. He holds a master’s degree in insurance and reinsurance from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia.
