Agile targets further growth with underwriting leadership promotions 150 150 Haggie Partners

Agile Insurance Group is pleased to announce a number of significant promotions within the underwriting leadership team as part of the MGA’s growth strategy in the Australia and New Zealand markets.

Mark Hunt, active underwriter for Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate 2427 since its inception in 2024, is stepping into the role of group chief underwriting officer. As such Hunt takes oversight of all underwriting activity including the syndicate, service companies, and MGA operations across Australia, London and New Zealand.

Hunt has more than four decades of underwriting experience, having worked in in Lloyd’s for more than 27 years before relocating to Australia in 2011. A further 15 years underwriting management in Australia gives him a unique insight into global and local markets.

Simultaneously, David Hughes, previously Syndicate 2427 deputy active underwriter, is stepping into the Syndicate 2427 active underwriter position and continues to represent the syndicate across all classes in the London market. Hughes is located at the Agile box at Lloyd’s and is available to brokers on a face-to-face basis every day.

Hughes has enjoyed a 27-year career as a Lloyd’s marine underwriter in the London market along with short periods establishing local syndicate operations in Hong Kong and Singapore.

To support Hunt and Hughes, Mike Dalton (group head of aviation) takes on an additional role as head of underwriting (Australia) to help manage and support the underwriting teams in Australia. Dalton has a 32-year history in aviation underwriting and class-of-business management in Australia and New Zealand, is a leading light in the regional aviation industry and holds a commercial pilot’s licence.

The changes follow confirmation of regulatory approvals and are effective immediately.

Robin Barham, CEO of Agile, said: “These promotions demonstrate the depth of talent we have in the team and provides team members the freedom to develop a broader vision. I’ve known each of them from different areas of the industry for more than 20 years, so I couldn’t be prouder to have all their talents working together to lead the underwriting business. I’m particularly delighted that we’re able to promote internally and to create opportunities for other team members.”
